History
Newark had a former girls' grammar school, the Lilley and Stone Girls' School, similar to Retford's Retford High School for Girls. Barbara Dibb was the headmistress of this school from 1947 to 1971. The school was also known as the Lilley & Stone Foundation Newark High School for Girls.
Comprehensive:
It became the Grove School in 1976 when Newark went comprehensive, from the Grove Secondary Modern School.
The former Lilley and Stone School is a listed building. For the first three years at secondary school, attendance was at the Sconce Hills High School; Paul Upex, a school caretaker, murdered a 13-year-old girl at the school, being jailed in November 1988. The last two years before 16 were at the Lilley and Stone School. These two schools merged in 1997 to become the Newark High School. This school was in special measures between 1999 and 2001. Its small sixth form closed in 2003. By 2007, pupil numbers were expected to fall below 300, which was less than half the capacity of the school. This site closed as a school in 2008, becoming the academy's sixth form. The whole site closed in 2016.

The explore
Have known about this school since at least 2019 but like most of the good places its bloody miles away from me.
It seemes to have stayed pretty much off the radar untill this month, however it did make a brief apperance by a FB explorer back in february.
Although he only managed to get in the 2 original listed buildings so i would guess its been well sealed untill now...
Fast forward to December and now every 1 is going!
So i thought id better finally get around to doing it if its going to get tour bused i want to see it before it gets trashed.
Upon my arrival i parked up and spotted a potential way in, sure enough it was and i could not belive how bloody easy it was getting in.
Once inside i made my way through the various different departments and it became clear that the owners have completly given up on securing the site, its wide open and already starting to get trashed.
loads of cameras around the site and sensors inside but its clear they havent worked for sometime.
As i pushed further through the school and in to the older parts it became less trashed and more natural decay was evident .
The older part of the school was just simply amazing with oak wood pannels in some of the rooms and the old decaying class rooms and corridors made for some superb photography.
The old science labs were still intact and stocked up ready for another lesson.
As i was busy snapping away in 1 of the class rooms in walked 2 other explores who told me they had been 2 weeks ago and its looking even more worse for wear now.
Hopefully this gets sealed up quick to save it from further destruction!
Inside and greeted with a fairly moden looking corridor that ran though the D&T cookery classes.
The back of the more moden D&T building
Walking down from D&T i spotted quite a few old redundent cameras
In to the main hall now. Sadly already starting to get trashed
Another fairley modern corridor
Another corridor that lead in to....
...This room, no idea what this room would have been but had some nice decay
As i exited the above room it lead me in to the older parts...
The Oak wood paneling is rather nice
In to the science labs we go
So much stuff still left behind
As i left the science labs i was greeted by some lovely peely paint
More labs
More lovely old decaying class rooms
