Locked with the T-bar (topbanana's report)but we had no problem releasing the t-bar mechanism.
Great little post, but a warning to future visitors, the grid over the sump at the foot of the ladder is missing, so if your not careful your going to have a very wet foot/lower leg.
Post is now re-locked with the t-bar and left exactly how we found it.
