The explore

This was a fun one for sure. After doing a bit of research on sites in Edinburgh I set off, this being the only one I could get into. I was surprised by the fact nobody had explored it before considering it was a pretty big one and had been lying empty for a while. It was an absolute maze inside and it took me a while to figure out how things were laid out. While a lot of it had been stripped out, it still retained a lot of its machinery, systems, electrical equipment and the likes. At one point I believe there was somebody inside the building with me but I doubt we were going to bump into each other in that maze anyway.

History

The building was constructed in 1968, with a later extension built in 1978. It primarily served as a call centre for Lloyds Bank however I believe it had other uses as well due to some of the more hardcore security features on the site. It had become under-used towards the end of its life and finally became vacated in 2018. I reckon it had been barely used since the mid-2000s based on the furniture and age of equipment I saw at the time. There is now a developer keen on purchasing the site and converting it to apartments.

After a romantic meal with a view and probably inhaling enough dust and asbestos to kill a horse I headed home. Hope you enjoyed.

Can this still be visited? I checked it on google maps, and it seems that there is a business that links itself to this address. :/

Great report and photographs, ripe as you say for redevelopment.

@Rebeka This can still be visited yes, very easy to access. Have been there again recently and no worrying signs of business presence. It's such a huge place that even if someone was there at the same time as you, you wouldn't notice.

Is this site still accessible? I have heard that there are apparently armed police here now but I am not 100% sure if that’s true.

Unless its in use I cant imagine there are armed police at any building?
& unless the police are using it for training or something I doubt they would have any involvement, most likely a private security firm if anything

More chance of Jesus descending from heaven and walking among us than there being armed police at an old derpy office building.
