The explore

This was a fun one for sure. After doing a bit of research on sites in Edinburgh I set off, this being the only one I could get into. I was surprised by the fact nobody had explored it before considering it was a pretty big one and had been lying empty for a while. It was an absolute maze inside and it took me a while to figure out how things were laid out. While a lot of it had been stripped out, it still retained a lot of its machinery, systems, electrical equipment and the likes. At one point I believe there was somebody inside the building with me but I doubt we were going to bump into each other in that maze anyway.

History

The building was constructed in 1968, with a later extension built in 1978. It primarily served as a call centre for Lloyds Bank however I believe it had other uses as well due to some of the more hardcore security features on the site. It had become under-used towards the end of its life and finally became vacated in 2018. I reckon it had been barely used since the mid-2000s based on the furniture and age of equipment I saw at the time. There is now a developer keen on purchasing the site and converting it to apartments.

went to check it out and new security systems were installed at the front gate with motion sensors which set off after you climb over the fence and cameras linking straight to a police station.

Bit of a schoolboy error that really. Imagine a security company throwing all their arsenal NOT at the fence line

I'd take whatever they told you with a bit of a pinch of salt, the police have got better things to do with their time than sit there watching an abandoned building on CCTV. More likely the sensors triggered an alert at a security company who called the police when they saw you on CCTV.
