Having loved doing bypass in Bradford it was a no brainer that we would be back to have a further nosy at this wonderful system . Teaming up with Nuboid again we gained access at the side of the Audi dealership just of kings road a bit further upstream from our last visit just after the split ( rainbow bridge ) It was a fair old drop down to the culvert ( not recommended ) we needed a bit of rope to get down safely once in the water there was a very small culvert downstream not worth bothering with we then started walking upstream until we arrived at the start of the next underground section
pretty modern concrete affair but easy going underfoot
the next pick was under the car park of tesco next to canal road theres no exit in or out here as its completely grilled over as visible on google maps !
moving on upstream
big culvert this next pic looking back downstream
change in styles to concrete box section
approaching the end and in to an open air section
older construction this then outside after only a short walk we approached the next underground section
diddnt hang around here as i wasnt sure if this was still used as a mill or if it was now apartments ?
twin brick box section we had a nosy up the brick pipe on the right
it split down in to to smaller pipes , back to the main explore the twin box section became one
some lovely brick vaulting on the ceiling
out of the old section and a return to modern concrete
thankfully that soon reverted back to older type construction complete with stone flagged floor
small concrete box section then back to brick arch so nice modern stallagtites
A bit further upstream we encountered another ( one of many ) small off shots some lovely blue brickwork here what made this unusual was that there was a drain directly underneath this drain ! A steel plate missing underfoot meant we had to carefully step over to continue
lovely blue bricks on the bottom it went uphill more steeply than the pic suggests to a CSO was slippery as hell underfoot
back to the main explore around this point we made friends with mr Rat whom we followed upstream for a time before crossing over and overtaking him
waterfall ! loads of different styles down here
back to concrete box section this eventually split in to two we investigated a side tunnel thinking it was a CSO
to smaller tunnels that eventually became one , absolutely stank ! still we had a nosy up
two stoopy quite long box tunnels become one large brick pipe there was a step up here
bits of poo floating downstream was about 8 feet tall the pipe
looking back downstream you can see the stone arch section and stone floor this was never a foul drain someone has piped in ( illegally we found the pipe in question ) after this point the drain was clean
a split here
this was as far as we got the diameter had reduced as well to less than 6 foot we had been a time following this longer than the pics suggest had already seen of one set of batteries in the head torch and was aware that we had a fair way still to go so back out the way we came in
The arches
