Somewhere I had clocked previously before the lockdown started and everything went to crap but was beaten to the punch by @D&D Urban Explorer's - this, amazingly, is the first school I've explored on home soil for ages. I do like a good school explore and this was a pretty decent one despite it's small size and mess made by idiots, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would as there was plenty of stuff to rummage through. It seems kind of sad that they moved to a new site but left so many toys and so much educational material behind that was pefectly usable really.
The Montessori Method of Education is a child-centred educational approach based on the scientific observations of children, developed by the Italian physician Maria Montessori over a century ago. The system is in use in independent schools across the world in various forms, but all of the methods view the child as the one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It attempts to develop children physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively with mixed-age classrooms, greater student choice, specialised educational materials and specially trained Montessori teachers among other things.
Meadowbrook School near Ascot was run under the Montessori method at this location for almost three decades, admitting children between the ages of 18 months to 11 years old before they moved to a larger, better suited site in 2018. Prior to that there isn't much I can find out about the school, although it was almost certainly originally a small two or three roomed school house for the nearby villages before being expanded in the middle of the 20th Century.
Thanks for looking
