Now that is a shame.

Somehow I'd not noticed that this was in the process of being demolished.

Whilst the insides were a massive disappointment, still sad to see this go. Even more so that it is being replaced with a rather generic looking student accommodation building. They are supposedly going to salvage the "Picturedrome" stonework to display in the entrance lobby, which is nice I guess.

Not many of the old cinemas/theatres left in the Stoke area now!

Indeed it has, there are a few nice old bits of the cinema left behind though if you go for a nosey around.

I worked there as projectionist on and off between 1979 and 1986ish, can't imagine what was left behind. Would be interesting to find out where the old projection equipment went to, have seen a photo of the completely empty projection box taken a while back. There is a recent photo of the cinema half demolished showing the square portholes where the films were shown through, a bit sad to see. Still, can't live in the past!
