Norris Castle
History
Norris Castle was built in 1799 and sits in 225 acres of land, with a mile of waterfront. It was designed by the famous architect James Wyatt for Lord Henry Seymour.
The estate adjoins the neighbouring Osborne House, country home to Queen Victoria, which also includes the nine-hole Osborne Golf Club.
In October 2016, the parks and gardens at Norris Castle were also upgraded by Historic England to Grade I, making them the Isle of Wight's only Grade I listed landscape.
Explore
Parking at the seafront we made our way through the woods and up to the castle, getting lost once or twice we finally made it after a two hour walk through brambles, bushes, woodland and fields!
Walking up to the castle doors, we noticed two cars parked outside, we decided to make our way around the back, seeing two men walking up to the castle, we hid behind a bush, they were now working a couple feet of us, to our surprise we didn’t get caught and carried on taking pictures etc of the beautiful Norris Castle.
We made our way back through the woodland. getting caught in the fields, security told us we shouldn’t be on the land, telling us to move on, getting back to the car we drove to our next explore!
