Old Bank Workshops, Slaithwaite - August 2012
Old Bank Workshops are basically a selection of tiny old industrial units. The ground floor units are empty or contain very little of interest, which I guess is true of the whole building really, but upstairs there is at least enough of an atmosphere to satisfy an hour's worth of rummaging around. It's the feel of the place when you start to get up close and personal with the titbits left behind that I really enjoy in these sort of places.
History
Old Bank Workshops Ltd were around near enough a century having been incorporated in 1911 and dissolved in 2010, but whether or not they actually produced stuff here during that time is a bit of a mystery. It looks like the units were hired out to small businesses during more recent times - a restoration company, a cabinet makers, an auto repair place, etc. This is by no means heavy industry...
...It's also probably the first time I've not had a digital camera with me while trespassing - but then it felt like the sort of explore where you want a film camera anyway.
Thanks to Fudge for suggesting this one to me.
