while @coolboyslim went for a mooch about Preston
The hotel was opened in 1883 by the Yorkshire & Lancashire and London north western railway,
in the1923 grouping of railway companies ownership passed to the London Midland railway
once the railways became nationalised in 1948 ownership passed to the transport commission's hotel's executive
the hotel was sold in 1950, but continued as a hotel for several years.
The building was then acquired by Lancashire council as offices & renamed east Cliff,
the council constructed a modern annexe to the west of the main building, which was demo'd 2020
as part of plans to return the main building as a hotel
there's currently no evidence of renovation & all work has stalled.
The building is imposing with an exterior of a red tile roof, red brick walls & tall chimney's
the interior consists of ornate ceilings & tiled walls.
facade
roof & views across Preston
street level
ceilings & fire surrounds
tiles
2nd & 3rd floor
