Report - Pleasure Island Theme Park, Cleethorpes - November 2016

History

Pleasure Island opened in 1993, on the site which was originally home to Cleethorpes zoo and the stock car racing stadium.

The zoo closed in 1977, following claims that animals were being mistreated on-site.
In the 80's, the theme park began construction, but was halted mid-way. The wasteland was then purchased by the Gibb family, who owned Yorkshires 'Flamingo Land' at the time, and Pleasure Island was built.

The park eventually closed in October this year, due to low interest on the tourism front.

I take it you love the Dodgems the most

I was surprised to see this on both Facebook and on here in Public as i was under the impression the Park was only shut over the Winter season due to low attendence and would open again for the warmer seasons and it was going to be kept low profile ??

Nope. Permanently closed, this summer was its last season.

I visited this on one of its last days, it has a very wierd atmosphere to it then, quite depressing to be there really!
I'm hoping it doesnt get trashed and maybe it can be saved? Who knows.
