History- The site closed down in January of 2009 due a period of sustained operating losses. Since then the site has been left abandoned and in a state of disrepair. the camp covers about 22 acres with accommodation for 2440 holiday makers maintained by around 55 staff members. Back in April of 2016 the site was subject to a suspected arson attack as 2 of the chalets were alight and fire crews were called to stop the fire spreading to the rest of the site.
Today- The site has fallen heavily into disrepair and has been heavily vandalized with almost all the windows being smashed, graffiti everywhere and any piece of equipment being destroyed by people who get a kick out do doing that kind of thing to an old abandoned building.
The explore- After being tipped off about the center by a family member who used to work there (some 30 odd years ago) It was a bit sentimental to go back home and show them what the place is like now so long after they left and a bit sad that the site has ended up this way. I picked up @Xploring and started the 3-hour drive down there. We arrived parked close to the site and scouted a way in no more than 5 mins later we were in. Thinking to ourselves that it was way to easy to get into.
Once we were inside we had a look around some of the chalets (they're all mostly the same but rather smelly ) We managed to snake our way through most of the buildings without too much of an issue (a bit of squeezing here and there)
Thanks to @Xploring for having faith in where we were going at such short notice and just hopping in the car and going and for making the explore on my Birthday an enjoyable one.
Apologies for the bad quality of some of the pics it started getting dark and my phone camera isn't brilliant at the best of times.
Thanks to @Xploring for this one as no matter how hard i tried it was just too dark for my phone camera in the pool area
