Rain-Bow Tools Recycling, Sheffield - July 2011
The factory was up until recently a plastic recycling site however history of other recent usage is very vague.
Some history here from a local
oli1980 said:The building was originally part of the tram sheds for the Birley East Colliery which sat behind this site.
Up until the mid 1980s the winding wheel was still on the site. The two main pit shafts are capped off and have markers on them to show where the main shafts were.
There is a little info on the colliery here from wiki
The site is completely trashed due to numerous fires and very close to collapsing even more than it has, complete walls missing, bricks knocked out etc...
Anyhows, on with the snaps (although admittedly not the best as had torch n tripod failz)!
A view from the yard showing one of the partially collapsed buildings.
A view inside the partially collapsed section visible from the pic above.
Old documents are laying around on the floor, all burnt...
Kinda glad I didn't need the bog in there
Looks like the pikeys have been in acquirin' wirin'
The corridor between the main buildings - is that a dog

The back of the main building clearly showing signs of firez
The furthest building from the yard with its roof unsupported
