So my original report on here was mostly rubbish so I’ll do another. Basically, this place is part of Dover’s most popular fortress and had three wooden floors that were slowly rotting. This is a Victorian caponier. A caponier’s a defensive covered firing passage in a fortress that’s usually Napoleonic. The lower floor was originally separated from the other two and could only be accessed through it’s own tunnel and spiral staircase but can be accessed via a hole in the ground these days. The upper two floors were connected and the highest one had another tunnel with a spiral staircase going up to the castle above. We also saw a smaller tunnel with a cable in it going off but decided not to check it out as it was probably going nowhere. This whole place is crawling with dust and is absolutely amazing but small! I think I’ve done a better job than last time but if not, let me know!
