Apparently I can’t be a serious explorer until I post something. I’ve had trouble working this website out via phone as I’m seriously not tech savvy AT ALL! So here is my short post regarding Springs Hotel, Oxfordshire.
Built in 1874 the Springs Hotel was named after the springs that feed one of the ponds on the grounds. Ian Gillan from the rock and Deep Purple bought the property in 1973 and started to restore the mock tutor style building to its former glory.
Mr & Mrs Franklin the most recent owners bought the hotel in 1995. Due to hotel sites that offer discounted stay the hotel had struggled to keep up running costs. The owners decided to close the 32 bedroom property in October 2014 concentrating on the golf club next door. So far it has since been left empty.
The explore
We actually parked in the golf course car park right next door. Clever or stupid we’re still not sure. Took a walk round the property and which is boarded almost all the way around. Found our way in. It didn’t take long for us to bump into other explorers. The bus had arrived it seems. It’s really nice to meet likeminded people but I will admit it did spoil the atmosphere knowing there were other people there making noises. The place isn’t actually that trashed compared to other places have been. The windows are still intact at least!
Here are some pics (some that will load on here at least)
What the place would have looked at when it was open and running as a hotel.
Anyway. Thanks for looking. This is my first post. I’d say be kind but...
