St Peters Orphanage - originally built in 1899, once a orphanage, transformed to a borstal and then a care home. the place closed its doors in 1998 and has been left to rot since.
Abit of an old explore but definitely one worth writing about. I was lucky enough to visit this place about a month before another fire broke out and devastated it further.
When we visited in the June the place was on its knees, a total death trap, walls on walls, ceiling completely collapsed down to the ground floor with obviously fire damage, so I'm both horrified and amazed that people have been in only recently.
The place was easily accessible at the time and looking down the corridor straight from the entrance was really gut wrenching, really dark and dingy with the above floors and debris everywhere! I didn't want to venture too far into the building i.e upstairs but I managed to capture these images from the ground floor.
furthermore there was a outhouse over the way near to the building which was open, I'm not sure if this used to be a medic/nurse room but it had a medical examination bed and some metal filing units, you can go into a back room but it s blocked off and I think that would have lead to the gymnasium around the back. with that being said there was and probably still is easy access to the Gym on site which has some strong graffiti. The graffiti is said to represent the history of abuse which many boys suffered from at the hands of the teachers and older boys living in the borstal. I have included a video which goes more into depth about the dark history of the place for anyone interested.
I know this place has been reported a few times but I'm not sure how recently it was documented before the fire. I have seen the roof has completely gone now it needs bulldozing 100%.
I made a rookie mistake of not taking a back up battery for my camera and having visited 2 places previous to this my camera died so the photo's aren't the greatest in quality as it is.
