Never thought I'd get a chance to get in here, but decided to take a look and acess was unbelievablely easy considering.
There was alarms going off, but I'm not the type to run away, had an hour in there and no one came.
Was quite a nice causal stroll around the college, most of the rooms were stripped, but was still some things to see. Having electric still running saved getting the torch out.
Old artwork from the students, old movie posters, showed the building still had some charcter.
I go past the new College on my way to work and I think it looks horrendous compared to this one.
I get they wanted a more modern building and to be in the center of town, but still I prefer the look of this one.

History on the place
The Northern School of Art is the only specialist art and design college in the north-east of England and one of only three in the country in the further education sector. The college currently has three campuses, one in Middlesbrough, one in Church Square, Hartlepool and a second Hartlepool Campus located on Church Street.
In May 1960, the old campus was opened by Robin Darwin, then-Principal of the Royal College of Art, and was later extended as Middlesbrough School of Art.
The school counts celebrated artist Mackenzie Thorpe among its alumni.
The campus closed its doors in June 2021 and re-located to the centre of Middlesbrough in September 2021.
The site and land is up for sale for £900.000 for 'development opportunities'.
I heard rumors they wanted to build houses on the land , so it's only a matter of time...

Is Middlesbrough a decent place to live or does the feeling of decline really prevail? It is a city with interests me very much and I think is uniquely placed as the last remaining landscape of truly massive mid-century industry in Britain. What do you think as a local think?

I'm not a fan of Middlesbrough tbh, it has its good parts like most places do but never really liked it haha. It has declined a lot the past few years, crime is up massively now as well.
I think it's because I travel there everyday and I work in the town, which is full of smackheads and closed down shops.
Yesterday at work I had kids trying to kick the door in of the place I work.
I know they are renovating it soon and the council is trying to do summit with it, but it will take a lot for me to ever like the place haha.
However the industrial history of Middlesbrough is good.

Middlesbrough is not a city btw. Its my hometown so i only have fond memories of it that said its tragic to see the decline of industries which built the town up to what it is now i suppose its no different to most other large industrial towns where heavy industry has all but gone though that said we still have a thriving port here and Markus is right about the history of the place which i will never forget as will many more who live here.

It's the same with Hartlepool where I live, the town used to be booming especially Chruch Street, it was the place to be for night outs.
Now it's just empty buildings everywhere hotels, pubs etc.
It's a shame as all of Teeside has such a rich history.

Feel like the North East was the captial of industrial at one point.
It'll be a shame to see Redcar Steelworks go, I know it's well on the way through demolition.
Was a shame to see the old ship buildings yards go in Sunderland.
I did manage to explore redcar blast furnace finally, a few months back, still need to get a report up on here.
