Had our eye on this little gem for several years now. Myself and Dweeb got into part of the site a few years back and boy did it look promising but it was also quite well alarmed on the lower floors. We sat on it for a bit waiting for the right moment and after hearing that the firms latest guise had gone into administration in January we thought it was worth another look. In the end i went along for a recce with Clebby and we scoped out a few new angles, one of which proved fruitful..
It would appear that despite announced closure a large chunk of the site is still in use.. not to worry tho as about 60% of the works has laid derelict since 2006 when the original WBS was bought out and the press shop and tool room closed. The hot rolling side of the site appears to still be in full swing and is still belled up but there was plenty to see.. Probably one of the best manufacturing explores ive done.. (which is going some!)
Press Shop
At the rear of the site is the large press shop. 15-20 power presses still in situe, racks and racks of dies and tooling, lines of fly presses with cute little stools neatly tucked away.. This is the best ive seen by miles.
