With help from Ojay and Viraleye, arranged by Tom Sherman, visited with Tom and Marsden1002, who got us there, thanks to all. The works drain, I can only assume got it's name, because the first 100m or so are fucking hard work. We were slipping all over, tripping over submerged rocks and generally moaning about it. It got easier and had a nice few features along the way. I was nominated to go first up the egg, because I had a hat and gloves, to bash the many spiders webs out of the way. I made sure I wasn't first out, as, being the shortest, I was sure I'd have gone on my arse in the drink.
History, as others have said, apart from some of it being over 100 years old and it joining the River Irk, is non existent.
Here's a few average pictures.
Into the egg...
...and back out
The risers on these steps are massive.
Just after this, we carried on upstream a while, when Marsden fell in. Tom's concerned look
Thanks for taking time to look.
