Report - Ventnor Hospital Tunnel - Isle of Wight 7/12/07

Visited with Truffle Pig, Team Polski and a guy called Chris.

This tunnel was from the long gone hospital in Ventnor, now in the back of a botanical garden, It is a long tunnel that just opens out onto the sea!. Truffle Pig mentioned that it was a sort of rubbish chute!! Well.. They put the rubbish in buckets on rails, took it down the end and launched it into the sea!!

Could you please give me a hint how to find the entrance from the sea end of the tunnel?

Buy a ticket to the Botanic Gardens, and there’s a few guided tours each day. It’s well worth it.... alternatively there’s a public footpath, following the coast, that goes through it.
