Not driving isn't the end of the world. Look for people in your area and suggest you meet up, perhaps you can pool your cash and both get further afield?

Failing that save up and buy a cheap day return to somewhere that has more to offer, your not that far from Glasgow, Manchester or the West Riding of Yorkshire which has plenty of exploring opportunities.

You'll find the kind of thing you speak of on any forum, from coin collecting to motor cars, its just the Internet!

At the end of the day reinforcing peoples delusions and idiotic behaviour by insisting on 'nice comments only' does way more damage than a few 'less than nice' comments do. People need to know when there post is utter shite as much as they do when its epic.
I didn't say 'nice comments only'. Maybe more constructive comments. You cant say what someone had done it shit. Keep that opinion to yourself. That person may be trying really hard and be proud of their visit and photos. Putting people down because it doesn't meet their standards just makes people look like asses. I am slowly understanding 'banter' on this site but there is a difference between banter and being a complete dick. I am yet to post my reports. I am hoping for constructive comments and advice rather than 'that's shit'.

I feel your pain! I done a couple of posts on here but after spending an age trying to get one to work was told it was "not interesting enough" & had it removed!
I am a regular poster on A N Other site where I have pressed a few right buttons, produced some good posts & become "accepted" (I may post on here one day if I can find the time)
Having said that I think this site is better for information sharing & have some nice positive responses to pm's I have sent.
Like yourself Im extremely busy & struggle to find much time to explore (which is one of half a dozen pass times) this seems to put us at a disadvantage to the likes of those who live & breath urbex and I don't imagine for a minute I will find the best places or take the best pictures, but I love what I do as much as the next guy & couldn't care what anyone else thinks ;-)

Thanks for that. It’s nice to know others are on the same page as myself. I really do need to get a report up but I am so apprehensive about it. Honestly I would like to be accepted in the urbex community but at the end of the day. I really enjoy when I do go out and when I do find stuff. I gotta enjoy it and not let others ruin it for me or allow them to put me down.

Ok get a report up boys and let’s have a look, seriously if it’s not all that great I would hope any criticism would be fair and constructive, sure there has been an element of sarcasm etc in the past on here, but things have moved on since then.

We’re a friendly bunch on the whole, I wouldn’t listen to the haters, some great friendships have been forged on here within this silly hobby :thumb

Boys! Hahaha. I’m a woman. We’re a couple. I’m Scarlett btw. I’m the one who writes. lol.

Anyway. I am working on a report now. Just trying to sort the photos and make sure my history on the place is correct. Doing a bit more research. Should be up soon. It will be my first one so want it to be good and interesting. Hopefully. Lol

:))))

My advice with this place is not to take it too seriously, accept it for what it is good and bad and just get on with what you enjoy doing. Any community has it's in jokes and banter, just roll with it and you'll be fine.

Communicating via a forum is I suppose just like texting someone on a phone, but with a much wider audience in 'an open space'. What one person writes with innocence can easily be read the wrong way and opinions based on this. I think it's the lack of face and personality behind any electronic interface that can create uncertainty. There will always be differences of opinions and it's something we have to accept if we are wiling to engage with a very large amount of forum users. As Speed well mentioned, in the real world, if I walked into a room crammed with people and expected everyone to nod and agree to anything I said, i'd be very wrong. Constructive criticism, although hard to swallow, is much more valuable.

By no means am I writing this to tell you to pull yourself together or toughen up, just my thoughts on how I see things...as I type from a faceless laptop probably many miles away from you, sat on my own, waiting to go home :D

I'm a very low 'poster' ( I really should sort some pics out! ) but in the years I've been here, there is a difference in posting styles and the exploring 'landscape' has changed with this recently. But what I can say is that there are a top bunch of guys and girls around who offer fantastic skills and information, it's just about making those connections.

We've all got our own stories to tell, but the number of laughs I've had with friends in shit filled tunnels, sinking boats and getting naked in old mills (don't laugh) is beyond what money can buy.

There's a local meet for us in March which i'm dreading, better be a tunnel involved! :turd:thumb

Stick around, you'll luurve it as Zappa said.

As Styru has said quite a few times "Everywhere is worth exploring but not everything is worth a report"

A manky old warehouse without any features might be a fun explore with friends but it doesn't make for a very interesting report.
If you are enjoying going out exploring then that's the main thing, I wouldn't worry about reports as much as getting involved with the community.

For what it’s worth everyone’s been spot on since I started posting here.

Well you can fuck off ;)

I like your post, Will Scarlet, might make everybody reading a bit thinking about the own behaviour, never wrong this.
Don't care too much, 80% of my questions stay without reply, but esspecially in the chat it depends who is on it and
also got something good to say in that moment.
Also this is a big forum with many different people with different behaviour also different from day to day and subject to subject (right word ?)
See, for you you are well known, but for the the others you are just one of many members and they don't know you.
So your problems are very important for you, but for the others a repeat of a lot.
I can tell you, there are many friendly members here, very nice when I met them in person.

ps. I could say more, but main is in
