Last night I had an itch to get some 'different' shots of the snow across Oxford so decided to tackle the looming behemoth that is the Water Eaton Grain Silo solo during the early morning hours. After getting 3 hours sleep I awoke and was out the house by 6.45am, arriving at the silo by 7.30. Getting in proved to be harder this time as since my last visit in March steel shutters have sprung up all over, but I found a very small chink in it's armour - anybody larger than I am would have had trouble getting in and it was no easy squeeze for me!
Sitting on the roof of the stairwell (the highest point I came out on as I didn't fancy the icy ladders up the side) was awesome, watching the early-morning traffic crawl into Oxford and shoot along the bypass, the odd train trundling along the adjacent railway track. Sitting up so high eating breakfast watching over the rat race, totally isolated and alone with the snowy world stretching out as far as the eye could see was just fabulous, so glad I did this.
Anyway enough nattering, and on with the pics - been done many times before so won't bother with history....
Few externals to finish....
Thanks for looking, more pics here Water Eaton Grain Silo (Snow Visit)
