Report - Whatman Paper Mill

Sometimes my work likes to send me away for the day, or the week. Unlike this trip I'm on now....usually I manage to squeeze some explores in. OK, I cant recall the date I went but felt like sharing anyway.

On my last one, I got to visit this wonderful little paper mill.

A superb mill hidden away in a town in the south of England. When they leave the lights on, it makes for a very easy explore. Every turn though, we could hear what we thought was security. More often than not, we found it to be a door, of window causing the noise. Just a single glimpse of security in a car going round the perimeter.

This came up in NP leads and rumours a while back (as Springfield Paper Mill). Someone was told it was shit so no photos appeared. How wrong were they!

Another top draw report from you, glad that someone did it justice before it went.

Thanks mate. What was pretty special (and sadly not photographed) was the air raid shelter out the back. In the trees behind it, nice little shelter hidden away. We hid in it while security drove around. Then hopped the fence.

Another former customer of mine known for production of their filter papers used by so many of us during our school, university and careers. Last production at Maidstone (Springfield Mill) was in 2014 - thanks for bringing back the memories. That was me as I was told by a few locals who had done the place that it was stripped with nothing really left inside. Just goes to show you can't listen to what others say as this looks pretty decent.
