could of been a tramway haulage tunnel to do with the quarries / lime kilns as it dosent look big enough for standard guage railway but may be wrong
Yeah pretty sure it's a narrow gauge thing for trams but it was pretty tall

Great report!

Been on my list (and not getting done) for a while due to my interest in Essex mines. Very nice to see some underground stuff, even if haulage tunnels rather than underground workings.

Thanks mate! Not tons of underground stuff in Essex due to the largely marshy ground in many places but a few bits certainly worth seeing
