I’m 99% sure I went here a few years ago. Definitely didn’t find the underground looking stuff!! I feel like I’ve missed out / need stronger prescription glasses maybe?? Haha.
Went in the derelict house on site too (nr the road) and the (owner?) arrived to dump a load of rubbish off (unlocked the main gate). He didn’t see us (phew)

Despite the fact the site is now pretty much completely flattened I still always fancied a wander around here. It was a nice relaxed solo visit on a wet December morning – my Dad tried to get a job at Daw Mill after being made redundant at Donisthorpe Colliery in 1990, but I couldn’t convince him to join me for a look!

This soggy abandoned house at the edge of the site - presumably used by the colliery as either office space or accommodation for the pit manager - actually pre-dates the Colliery by 30+ years and was originally a private residence called 'Peggs Hill'

Nice captured the atmosphere. Utterly depressing

I went underground at Daw Mill a couple of times. It had by some way the UK's largest coal face. An amazing sight but all gone now.

Indeed depressing.

I didn't realise there was some underground stuff hiding here... Assuming it's still there? Chalked my visit off as a waste of time, cost me a pair of sunglasses too :lol looks like I'm going back at some point

I know people who've been since I went but I'm not sure what the current state of play is. Can't imagine it'll have changed much really!

Pretty sure I located the manhole in one of your photo's and I thought it was just a drain, was still open in August last year, so hopefully it hasn't changed!

There were underground service tunnels just big enough to stand up in running from the high voltage substation out to various main buildings and also towards the gatehouse (odd choice of where a tunnel goes).
Some surface conveyors also started with the loading hoppers underground, and I'd expect these to still be there.
Hope this helps. It's what I'd learnt from visiting years ago and seeing maps and plans.

Paid another visit here, didn't go in the tunnels, as I was solo, so sod that. Somebody appears to have been digging though as there's 2 ways in to the tunnels. Also found an open manhole, but don't think it's the one in this report, it's a lot deeper and has water running through it. There was a fire extinguisher at the bottom though :hmm

All the paperwork remains too, surprised it hasn't been torched by someone yet.
