Whilst out photographing the autumn trees I came across this old railway bridge basically overgrown. Nearby was a collapsed old shed which was maybe associated with the railway. Next to the shed was some old metal rails with a chain on. I am wondering if it maybe was an animal pen. Though these were normally located near stations to load cattle and sheep on to the trains. This bridge was part of the Wymondham to Forcnett line in Norfolk. It was basically an extension line so trains could reach the north coast without going into Norwich. It opened in 1881 and closed in 1939 to passengers. But carried on for goods use till 1951. I have done a few bridges along this line.

The old shed.

The remaining metal grill fencing, I spotted more about.

The approach to the bridge and embankment.

Not sure if shed / fencing to do with the railway - they are not mentioned at Route-of-Wymondham-to-Forncett-Railway-Line - Norfolk Heritage Explorer.

Went to Endcliffe Park after an exam as I saw yellow rain warning on my weather forecast.. and it was definitely worth looking!

A big slurry tank, part of the rather elaborate Leighton Estate Model Farm, built in the 1850s.

My interest was really the hydraulic ram pump which lifted water to this tank sited on top of a hill - the slurry would then run down under gravity through pipes to fertilise the fields below.

But the ram had gone, or maybe it was underwater, so I went to look at the tank instead.

Not a great deal to see but you can wander around inside the walls.

Mastermap would have you beleive this is a sewerage pumping station...but it's wrong

Current 1K25 mapping says it's a hycraulic ram so that's kind of right

No fancy excavation a la @urbanchemist (he has the advantage of youthful enthusiasm) but a root round reveals the base of a compound ram

Unusually the drive pipe is above the surface for a while

Further up the hillside looking back down the line of the drive pipe. It's in the brambles near my feet but goes underground at this point

popped over to see the ice house in Poynton at weekend after seeing the report from @FreshFingers
Didn't take wellies and ended up wet

Second photo with the torch in the entrance chamber shows the stonework well.
Was the pond over-flowing? Given the amount of water in the fields over the past week I'm surprised the water in the ice chamber isn't higher

The pond was fine
Think I put a hole in my exhaust parking up on that shitty road though
