Report - The Elton High School (old buildings), Bury - December 2016

The Elton High School is a mixed high school in Elton, Bury. Not much to add other than the school's football team captain was none other than Phil Neville between 1988 and 1993, just one year before the start of his career with Manchester United.

This part of the school was closed in summer and demolition is currently underway.

About time someone put some pictures up of this; I had a few I was holding on to as they were taken right after closure so still had a few sensitive bits in them, may as well put them up now. Nice work mate.

Thank you so much for posting these - I was a student at Elton between 2012 and 2017 and it's relieving to know you've captured the building as it was. My year group didn't move into the new building until 2016, so spent a majority of my school years in the old one. Happy to answer any questions about the old building if you like. Though, if I may, the picture labelled "Head's Toilet" wasn't exclusively the Head's, it was usually referred to as "the emergency toilet". They locked the boys and girls toilets during classtime so if you desperately had to go you'd have to schlep to the emergency toilet, widely regarded as the worst toilet in the school. Thanks for capturing these though once again! I live in Wales now but still reminisce about the old school from time to time.

Cheers for clarifying about the toilet. Doesn't look great but I've definitely seen worse loos! Going back to my own high school days, there was a wall panel in one of the cubicles that you could actually open to uncover an abandoned toilet behind it. Looked like it had been disused for about 50 years... pretty grim.
