So... what's left of this once Mecca of the exploring world in December 2013? Well not much of course, and there are only crumbs left when once appetites would have been stuffed full of mooching goodness.
This is what remains:
The Mortuary
Seemingly forgotten on the edge of the sight until now, a new power supply box and cabling have been installed just outside - is the building being retained?? A new retaining wall has also been built around part of the car park (land of the former chapel) for the still in use District Works building. When i arrived, i was greeted by three bodies already here; two ghost hunters (yawn) and a guy armed with a ladder pinching roof tiles (twat) whom had recently converted to ghost hunting by the others (yawn repeated).
Emerson Villa
This is the last building still more or less 'complete', with redevelopment work now under way. Epsom and Kingston College of Nursing and Midwifery had occupied the first floor, with a female ward on the ground.
Area Laboratory/Pathology
In use until May, this block is now completely stripped.
Abington, Ashford, Barton and Burford wards block
Still under redevelopment, progress appears slow compared to my visit this time last year. Still a basic shell, with new roof partly built. Greenbank Villa opposite has been demolished this year and some sort of building not in keeping with any of the others is being built there.
Scott House
This building is part of the live site, but looks decidedly abandoned. Gardner House and a social club nearby are also in the same peril (all well secured).
Water Tower
Still as it is, with a few random walls remaining from the Engineering/Buildings departments buildings nearby.
Everything else has either gone or been converted into suburbia for middle managers and idiots. At least the majority of the fine buildings were saved.
On with the phots
Morgue
Area Laboratory/Pathology
Emerson Villa
All that's needed are some vacuum cleaners, a random selection of 1970's vinyl records and err.. some cell doors!
The last West Park untouched toilet/bathroom block, i kid you not.

And that's it, West Park is almost at end - at least for those explorers like me, who go looking for those last desperate crumbs.
Thanks for looking folks
