I hope this isn't overkill - there have been quite a few reports of this place, and I did one myself a couple of years ago. I don’t often do revisits, but I really liked it here when I first went. So when I heard that more of it was now accessible I took the opportunity to have a steady wander round and get a few 35mm film shots. It was much more smashed up than it had been two years ago, but was nice to see some additional bits - even if the machinery was long gone.

A Brief History (copied from my original report...)

'A large mill complex set amidst rural scenery. A water powered mill was first built here by the Moorhouses of New Mill in the 1830’s/40’s. Little remains of this, although the large dam still exists behind the site. Was rebuilt (probably c1870) – three storey main building with small, square tower. Number of late 19C/early 20C additions and separate buildings (including weaving shed). Square stone chimney built into part of the mill. Above this older part is a collection of large, mostly 20C industrial buildings – some designed like weaving sheds.'

Although parts of the mill were being used by other businesses until recently these have now vacated.

(Check @HughieD 's report for more extensive history: https://www.28dayslater.co.uk/threads/dobroyd-mill-jackson-bridge-west-yorkshire-may-2019.118396/ )

Aye film ftw, the shot in the drain looking out into the valley of the stream I've taken in the exact same position digitally and it's just nowhere near as nice as your 35mm version.

Great report too, I haven't posted much from Dobroyd but a very chilled enjoyable explore!

Thanks everyone. I’m enjoying the film, can’t believe it took me so long to get back round to using it.

Bostin I've a shoe box full of film that needs developing shame it costs so much

No way, I’m too impatient... but you’re right about the expense. Get a couple developed tho and get the pics up, I want to see! Been developing black and white at home which is a lot cheaper but don’t trust myself with the colour yet and don’t have a proper scanner either.
