The Ffos-y-fran Land Reclamation Scheme was a major opencast coaling operation to the north-east of Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. It was the last major opencast mine in the UK, and it shut down in November 2023 with restoration planned to start in 2024. But clearly never did !

Me and @CaEexploration came here and there was a lot to see. We didn’t stay too long here as it was dark, cold and SUPER muddy(good boots or shoes recommend) access is super easy as the place is HUGE!
However,
Be careful as the police turned up at our car saying that someone had called them. We aren’t sure if this is true as we were basically parked in the middle of the road. But they went super friendly and let us off easy!
