How is it more interesting not being able to see where you're going - and I'm not on about lights in the building but I assume you must have had some sort of light source on your person in order to see, which would have very easily alerted security to your presence.

Try again in the light ideally watch for a few hours watch their movements and you will be fine having said that they are probably seeing this and will now change their movements
