I remember sitting at almost that spot whilst a member here tried, and tried, to get a light painted shot with his new DSLR - longer and longer times were tried, wider and narrower appertures were tried, higher and lower ASA's were tried.

Eventually another well experienced member that was with us offered to show him how to get the best results - longer and longer times were tried, wider and narrower appertures were tried, higher and lower ASA's were tried.




..... think it was after about 10 mins of trial and error that the lens cap was eventually removed.

i normally use a G11 but this trip was the first time exploring with a DSLR and thankfully i did remember to remove the lens cap
