A common sight in large factories tbh. They have fallen out of favour in recent years tho as they waste a lot of water if just one person uses them at a time. I noticed when visiting Delphi a few years ago they had all been removed before closure. A bit of a relic from the era of factories where all the blokes would stop for lunch on the buzzer and all have to go wash their hands at once. Nowadays factories arnt really like that. Much cleaner to start with! As someone has said tho theres at least one UK service station out there with them still fitted!

That bit upstairs in the turbine house struck me as being quite clean too. Looked like where they used to cut the cardboard tubes for the paper to be rolled on to. I covered it in my report from 2016 or so. That was the beauty of Fletchers tho. There was loads of bits like that tucked away where the tourbus didn't quite make it. Even now you're still seeing bits you dont recognise. Make sure you go back for the canteen. That was always my favourite bit.
I keep trying to get back for the canteen and the big sheds as I’d love to see the crane inside, but that’s where secca does their new routes going between the two, Everytime I go back I can’t go further as they linger it sucks lol, I’ll get it done at some point. And you’re so right there Everytime you go back, there was something new, I still want to get into those portacabins near the gates, or that big shed with the tank next to it, yada yada

Just brilliant. I thought I had seen everything as I have bloody been in there over a dozen times! but you have pictures of stuff even I have not seen. Fletchers has a place in my heart and will be missed when fully flattened. Thanks for the pics.

Fantastic coverage. Nice, but also sad, to see an update. Good to see the boiler house remains, I wonder for how long. Nice photos.

And to think there still is more left, I honestly don’t know whether to update this one or make a whole new report when I go to see the rest cause I know it’ll be packed with lots more to see

It’ll be sad to see it go but if it doesn’t get knocked down, it’ll definitely end up collapsing with the massive fall in the roof and half of the walls bending about, definitely felt sketchy walking about parts of it

I thought that might be the case. I suppose you could get quite a few people around them at once as they clocked out. So they had they at Delphi as well once upon a time. Never having worked in a factory it’s something I have never experienced.
i agree with you about the canteen. It’s absolutely gorgeous and can never understand when people say we did not stay long in here. If we had not been losing the light then we would have been in for a long time.

Its simple enough to hop over the wall near the derp house too btw. Just make sure no one from the lived in houses are watching.

Sad to see the mangled machinery. But great to see the workshop, and I really liked your in depth explore of the turbine hall. That sink definitely reminds me of the one at the Universal Grinding Company. I wonder if quite a few industrial workplaces had them. I can't say I have seen many in pics of places. Sure others could enlighten me.

The company I served my apprenticeship had sinks like these. The water was switched on with the foot pedal around the base. There was always a big tub of swarfega on top of the post too.

Nice round-up of what remains. I remember giving the water treatment building a good go when I visited but no success. Got to the point we were looking for things to make a rudimentary ladder to get onto the concrete platform on the second floor and in. I bet there is some nice stuff in there. It does look like it would be quite dark though
I managed to poke my phone thru a hole in the wall of that building, all I could see was a large scraper filter, probably for filtering any remaining pulp from the effluent before the waste water was discharged
